Congratulations Dr Ruopian Fang - the JPhysEnergy's Emerging Leader 2020 winner
Congratulations to Sophie (Dr Ruopian Fang), the winner of 2020 JPhysEnergy's Emerging Leader by IOP Science. Prior to joining UNSW as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 2018, Sophie completed her PhD degree in Materials Science from the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research activities focus on rational materials design for electrochemical energy storage and conversion. She has over 20 publications with an average citation per article of over 100. She has received several prestigious awards including the 2018 Special President Scholarship of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and also the 2019 Carbon Journal Prize for outstanding PhD thesis in carbon materials science and technology. Her recent work which was acknowledge by IOP Science as being exceptional and won her the 2020 JPhys Energy's Emergy Leader Award featured the next generation Lithium ion battery using graphene as the cathode scaffold. In this work, Sophie and her co-authors proposed a strategic design of a multifunctional electrode structure endowed with targeted functions for high-performance Li-S batteries, which inspires rational design of electrodes for analogues electrochemical conversion reactions.
