One of the common problems in using electrocatalyst in the CO2 reduction process is a trade-off between product selectivity and product generation rate, where Hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and CO2RRR compete with each other. Herein, we present a novel three-dimensional porous silver electrocatalyst for CO2RR, fabricated using an inexpensive and simple scalable electrodeposition method. For the first time, these AgFoam electrodes were applied as a working electrode for selective conversion of CO2 to CO. Comparing to other silver-based catalysts, the AgFoam electrode exhibits one of the highest Faradaic Efficiency (FEs), as well as one of the largest current densities for CO generation.
