Solar driven ammonia synthesis with Co-TiOx and Ag nanowires enhanced Cu2ZnSnS4 photocathodes

11 February was celebrated as International Day of Women and Girls In Science! 👩‍🔬👩‍💻👩‍🔧Particles and Catalysis Research Laboratories celebrates the incredible contributions of women researchers in all scientific fields.

We are proud to feature the work of female researchers in fields with recent publication by Shujie Zhou and co-workers (
📢📢 Shout out to amazing female researchers: Cui Ying T.Pimm VongsvivutXiaojing Hao, and Rose Amal)

Here we reported the integration of cobalt-doped TiOx and Ag-nanowires onto TiOx/CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) photocathode to produce ammonia from waste nitrate. This photoelectrochemical (PEC) technology can potentially decarbonize the ammonia production process, and allow us to have on-site on-demand ammonia production facilities by using nitrate waste and sunlight as feedstock.
