Yun Hau Ng is an Associate Professor in the School of Energy and Environment, City University of Hong Kong and an adjunct academic at UNSW Sydney. He received his B. Sc. (Industrial Chemistry) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2003 and his Ph.D. from Osaka University (under supervision of Prof. Michio Matsumura) in 2009. After a brief research visit to the Radiation Laboratory at University of Notre Dame (Prof. Prashant Kamat's group), he joined the ARC Centre of Excellence for Functional Nanomaterials led by Prof. Rose Amal at UNSW with the Australian Postdoctoral Fellowship (APD) in 2011. He joined the School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW as a Lecturer in 2014 as was promoted to tenured Senior Lecturer in 2016. He joined City University of Hong Kong in August 2018. His research is focused on the development of novel photoactive semiconductors (particles and thin film) for sunlight energy conversion. Focusing on these projects, Yun Hau has accumulated more than AUD$3 million research funding from various sources including the Australian Research Council. He is awarded the Honda-Fujishima Prize in 2013 in recognition of his work in the area of photo-driven water splitting. He is also an Emerging Investigator in Energy Materials selected by RSC J. Mater. Chem. A in 2016. He received the Distinguished Lectureship Award from the Chemical Society of Japan in 2018. Yun Hau has published over 100 peer-reviewed research articles and currently serving as Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports.
