Project summary
My research is dedicated to advancing sustainable methods for the recovery of critical minerals and rare earth elements. The core focus involves designing scalable electrochemical systems that can efficiently extract critical minerals and rare earth elements from geothermal and other brines such as acid mine tailings (AMD).
This innovative approach not only contributes to the remediation of mining waste but also mitigates conventional techniques employed for critical minerals extraction. The ultimate objective is to fulfill the soaring demand for these vital elements in the realm of cleaner energy transitions while minimising the environmental impact associated with mineral extraction.
