Catherine Lawrey

My project focuses on the development of photothermal catalysts for carbon dioxide Fischer-Tropsch synthesis into medium length hydrocarbon chains. My research covers the synthesis, characterisation and activity testing of these catalysts under different conditions to gain a greater understanding of the poorly understood field of photothermal catalysis, particularly in relation to medium chain hydrocarbons. The industrial application of this work is to ultimately design a catalyst to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from carbon dioxide and green-hydrogen, thus developing a Net Zero fuel for the aviation industry.
