Project summary
Simultaneously utilizing the solar energy and external bias, PEC reduction of CO2 into value-added fuels and chemicals is regarded as one of the most promising way to mitigate the dilemma in energy transition and global warming. However, the gas diffusion limitation and compulsory contact with water molecule in traditional aqueous system leads to the system inefficiency and photocorroion.
Aiming to mitigate these challenges, this research is focused on investigation of applying MEA system in gaseous CO2 reduction driven by photocathode. The exploration in reaction mechanism and the modification of photocathode will provide insights in improving the stability, efficiency and selectivity of PEC CO2 reduction.
